I find myself anxiously waiting every month for MaximumPC to arrive. I find it to be the most informative and relevant PC magazine out there. It has an excellent blend of hardware reviews, software reviews and tweaks aimed mostly at power users. I savor ever page. I was just curious to see what other magazines out there people can't live without. I want to make sure I'm not missing out on any other good ones. 🙂

Maximum PC 🙂 been a reader for a LOOOONG time now.. unfortunately as of late the magazine seems to get smaller and smaller, to the point where the adds outweight content. Kinda really dumb if you ask me..I emailed their editor at the time who was John (Phillips?) and asked him regarding my sentiments about the length of the magazine. he said that yes its gotten smaller but with high price costs to ship out, print and such, that that was the best that the magazine for a retail price (almost 11 CAN on the news stand) My take... there are magazines almost 2-3 times as thick as maximum pc with more content.. and they are close half the price. whats the deal.. maximum pc should switch they printers or something cuz 11 bucks for a magazine that seems to shrink with every issue just doesn't seem right to me...

I used to like Maximum PC, but I just didn't like their recent issues as much as I used to. And I started not to like the general tone of the thing. My magazine money now goes to Scientific American. Sure it costs 2x more than MaxPC, but I don't read a full issue in one sitting, as it's got much more content.

Mmm... PC Gamer. Not as good as they used to be, but still WAY better than any other gaming mag I've read. They don't fawn all over every new release like some of them do...

CPU, mainly for the eidtorials from Anand, Kyle and Alex(and others, but the others tend to be more scattered and lack focus) although they certainly are a lot closer to the approach of running a proper PC mag then what the others are for the geek set anyway. Most of the content is a bit dated for people like us(weeks old) but the editorials are pretty good. I like their approach of explaining why you do things along with what you are doing(and proper explenations most of the time)- I strongly reccomend the mag to those who are in the process of learning more about PCs in general.

For the PC gaming mags, I read them for interviews and updates on games, but mainly I think they are fairly poor hacks that are utterly clueless about what makes a good game versus what sucks- they only know what they like and don't like(I'm sure everyone has a horrible movie they are fond of, I have several). Their gushing over Black&White springs quickly to mind(and they all took part in that one).

Haven't read a mag in years thanks to all the Hardware/computing sites that I can peruse for basically free since I have to pay my ISP bill anyways. It saves paper too 😉

Pc gamer althought they do seem to be a little behind at the moment as games are being reviewed a few weeks/months after release. That never used to be the case. Still a great mag though 🙂
