Right now it's Talenti gelato. The dark chocolate kind.

I bought some Talenti when I was in Hawaii. It was not very good at all; we did not even finish it.

I like Haagen Dazs for store bought, very solid vanilla and pralines and cream. I discovered a gelato place across the park from me and it is by far the best gelato I have ever had. So damn good. Been there way too many times since finding it.

As in grocery store icecream? Chapmam's. Decent cheap independent local company.

Don't have a brand and don't eat ice cream any more. But when I was young living in California we would go to a store called Thrifty and they served ice cream. My fav was Chocolate malted Crunch.

I was just about to post this. I love Thrifty ice cream. Nothing better than getting a cone at the counter. I usually get mint chip however. Rite Aid now owns Thrifty but they still sell the Thrifty ice cream.

Actually, the only ice cream I've been eating the last year plus is Trader Joe's. Their Ultra Chocolate is very very good, chocolaty, reasonable at $3.99/quart. Saw several recommendations for it in another ice cream thread here. Lately, though, I've been getting their French Vanilla in the 1/2 gallons at $5.99. Rather highly rated in a newspaper article and I like it in my weekend banana/nut splits.

Haven't even bought any in awhile :(

Damn, that looks good Fritzo.

It's a bit expensive (sale price $4, normal price $5+), but it's literally the best ice cream I've ever had. They only make 2 gallons of the stuff at a time so it's pretty consistant. Graeter's is also famous for putting a big chunk of premium chocolate in the center of the ice cream:

homemade brand mint chocolate chip

no contest
Chocolate chips were not meant to be put in ice cream. It is an abomination in the desert world. Mint cookies n cream is infinitely better and still not the best flavor by a mile.

these are not chocolate chips, those get hard and terrible

homemade mint uses very thin, very dense shavings of silky smooth dark chocolate that melts in your mouth

i just had a bowl of it and remarked to myself, "this is the most perfect food in the world."

Maybe Ben and Jerrys Chunky Monkey, but I spit out the chocolate pieces. Their Mint Chocolate Cookie, Peanut Butter Fudge and Chocolate Fudge Brownie are good too. Oh, and Fatboy's ice cream sandwiches are awesome. Unfortunately, now I eat Breyers Carb Smart or Lucerne low carb ice cream. :(

Cool! If there's a Rite Aid in the town north of here I may buy some for old times sake.

:hmm:

Well then I will withdraw my previous ridicule, but I still maintain that as good as mint ice cream can be, it still cannot be the best. :colbert:
