Chevrolet is a "Brand" made up of individual models.
Miller is a "Brand" made up individual beers...MGD, Icehouse, Miller Lite, High Life, ect.

Jeez I didn't even realize Icehouse was a Miller product. Besides Icehouse I don't like Miller much at all but I'll drink it if that's all that's available. So I'll go with Budweiser.

Deschutes

Hello, best friend.

Yes.. many people claim to love Deschutes.. but few understand the glory that is Obsidian Stout.

I have found that Black Butte Porter is more or less the bottled, concentrated form of unadulterated sex.

Guinness

Killians, Goose Island (various) and Sam Adams Winterlager are also good drinks.

Ha.. I was going to originally say that I think Black Butte drinkers are hacks and that their porter is just a watered down version of Obsidian :p Its a great beer but it always just leaves me wanting the stout.

I think one thing we can agree on is that Mirror Pond and Inversion are still better than anything else you'll find at a 7-Eleven (besides Black Butte and Obsidian)

At Irish Pubs, I always get Smithwicks
At Sushi bars, Asahi
Americanized Restaurants, I get hard liquor, usually a Rusty Nail

When I'm in a stouty mood, I usually drink Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. It's expensive and hard to come by though, so I usually just go for a porter.

7-11 is usually pretty worthless unless you're looking to pick up a 12 or 18 pack of something cheap. The Albertsons near my place has a good selection of regional microbrews, so my snobby thirst never goes unquenched.

What I mean is 7-11 has the basic Bud/Coors/Miller selection and a few microbrews. Deschutes is the best widely distributed beer IMO, the kind you can find in just about every store. Obsidian is a little harder to come by and I agree Rasputin is better, but for its availability you can't beat Deschutes.

If you're in Seattle there is probably a store with a huge selection somewhere near you. In Tacoma a local Deli had tons of beers from all around the world, including some Trappists and microbrews from around the country. Its like Christmas morning when I find a store that beats the selection of my current favorite :)

I haven't yet found a place like that in north Seattle. Happy's Market in Ellensburg has the biggest beer selection I've ever seen. It's basically 3 walls of beer with a bunch of unimportant (i.e. non-beer) stuff in the isles in the middle. One wall is pretty much all microbrews and imported beer. It's pretty much the best part of Ellensburg.

Magic Hat #9 is great and a local microbrew is making some Triple IPA stuff that is absolutely fantastic.

The QFC near the U District ( I think it is on Montlake?), if you keep going on 45th past greek row and down that hill, has a good selection of beers. When I lived there I heard rumors of a specialty beer store but never actually found out where it was. Apparently it was within walking distance of greek row.
