What's your favorite book?

I have to teach and create a lesson plan on a novel in my senior seminar class. It can be any genre (even way out science fiction) and I was just wondering what everyone's favorite book they have ever read was. Please only put down one or two, since I know its hard to come up with just ONE favorite.

I'll start:
1. As I Lay Dying -William Faulkner
2. Jurassic Park - Michael Crichton.

"Survivor" by Chuck Palahniuk, maybe. Or perhaps "Snow Falling on Cedars" or "In the Lake of the Woods."

Atlas Shrugged

I couldn't stand that book, i tried to read it this summer and it was just awful...I think it's because i don't agree with anything the author believed in. It seemed like every character was either an unfeeling prick or a whining sap. grrr makes me angry just thinking about it.

Hitchhiker's Guide

Great book, I wish the movie was as good.

the hobbit
loved it since i was a kid, its lighter than the lord of the rings but still, to me anyways, a great read.

1984 is another favorite

The Dark Tower series from Stephen King...

If I had to pick one, I guess the first one, "The Gunslinger" since they obviously build from one another
