Beer = bad.

About the only drinkable "beers" would be Lindemans Framboise Lambic or Smirnoff Ice. Both are real streches to call beer.

Hard alcohol is much, much better. Quicker and actually tastes good.

This is the first stupid thing I've ever seen you post. Unfortunately, it's REALLY stupid :(

If you're drinking to get drunk, sure. That's not why I drink, when I drink.

I can't get past the burn of hard liquor to really detect much taste, most of the time.

No love for the Belgians? I'd take a nice 50*F Kasteel Donkers over anything else any day.

IPA for me. LOL @ no votes for pilsner, probably because our typical idea of a pilsner is Bud or whatever crap its called these days. A true pilsner can be very refreshing and hoppy.

And no options for the Belgian styles? Beer made my monks FTW!

I just love playing devil's advocate sometimes.
Yea I used to think like this...when I was 15.
Then what, you killed your taste buds and can drink it now?

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately, most beer tastes REALLY bad.

Rule #1, the cheap stuff burns bad.
Rule #2, 40% alcohol (80 proof) usually has no burn especially compared to the 50% stuff.

If beer tastes like crap to me, the only reason to drink alcohol would be to have an effect. If I'm drinking to have an effect, downing 6 bad tasting beers isn't nearly as pleasant as a good mixed drink. Or heck, a half bottle of good wine.

Smirnoff Ice isn't beer.... LMAO. Anyway, I chose Pilsner.

Also, there really should be two pils options: Pilsner and American Pilsner. I think the Beer World Cup (or whatever the governing body is) had to invent a category to put bud, pabst, etc in, lol.

What is your favorite pilsner?

A Paulaner Pilsner is my goto "cheap beer"

You do realize the same can be said in the opposite direction. Most cheap beers taste like crap, the better stuff can get quite expensive.

I said it was a strech to call it a beer. But Smirnoff calls it a beer right on the label. Smirnoff also calls it a malted beverage, which is usually just fermented barley, which is just beer again (often with added flavors though).

"American Lager" or "American-style Pilsner" I believe is their category.

FWIW I've never had any real, good beer. I've just been drinking the cheap shit. (Bud, Coors, Pabst, Yuengling, Miller) *Barfs at thought of Miller.

Am I missing it? Seems to me they call it a 'mixed vodka drink'.

For when I just want a couple of nice beers, I prefer stuff like Boddingtons, Belhaven, Guinness, etc. For when I want to drink more like a sixer, I'll do Shiner or Dos Equis.

I chose Porter. Sam Adam's had a Honey Porter that was pretty damn tasty. The only types of beers I don't enjoy are pilsners and lagers.

Porters and stouts traditionally use almost the exact same ingredients and taste almost the same. The only typical difference is that stouts are often slightly higher in abv %.

There is quite a bit of overlap and you'll get a lot of answers from different brewers on which is which. In the end, to me at least, they are almost exactly the same - they have a huge overlapping area, with some fringe stouts that are unique from any porter and vice versa. Their histories are intertwined, and beer is unique enough by manufacturer that you'll see more variance within stout varieties than you will in a difference of porter versus stout.

For example I'm a huge fan of Storm King Imperial Stout (victory), but to be honest, if it said Storm King Porter I would buy it just the same.

Also, while technically it's own thing ... Mead is fvckin great too...
