Compatible inks are usually faded and look like crap. I dont use them unless its for non-important stuff

I've only tried aftermarket ink once...from some fuckwad on ebay...it leaked and ruined my printer.

Some of the aftermarket ink shops have very good reputations and lots of people use them, but I use only manufacturer cartridges myself.

I now have a laser printer and that MAY change. $80 for a toner cartridge sux.

You have to factor in the cost per page BoomerD. If color printing isn't a "must have," then a monochrome laser printer will save you cash in the long run. :)

I never had luck with them. I went with a color laser for a few years with refillable toner on ebay that worked out. Currently I'm using an HP Officejet that claims to have cheaper cost per page than laser. I picked it up at Costco so if it sucks it's going back.

Yes indeed. I print reams of crap for school, and the cost of ink for my Canon inkjet was getting ridiculous...so I bought a Canon all-in-one laser printer. I haven't regretted it yet. I still have the inkjet for the few occasions when I need color.

I've been using G&G ink in my Canon ip3000 after I read this website http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/inktest.html that tested them. I ordered from supermediastore but I can't guarantee that they still G&G is still the generic ink they sell. I haven't had any problems with the ink and while it is slightly off from OEM Canon ink, the price difference is much larger than the quality difference.
