What's your CALLSIGN?

Ah yes, this reminds me. Getting an amateur radio license is on my list of "things to do".

I do know a few from my town.

what channels can you use,besides 1-40. 😉

skipland!

i am using an Imax 2000 antenna,has very good swr's,in any frequency i have tried,from 24.000-27.995

from 28.000 up is,if i remember; not "Gray area" but specifically Ham.

Had an interest in doing Ham radio for a while now but the cost of getting into it is rather high. So I kindof doubt I'll be getting my license anytime soon.

HAM radio went out when the internet came in. I am a Amatuer Radio Operator, but haven't touched the radio in years. Two meter and 440 is flooded with angry geriatrics that complain about their health and compare their equipment to other geriatric's aging equipment.

I got my license in '93 and used the radio for three months. I ended up going back down to the CB bands where I can key up music, pick up chicks, and curse. Though, those days are long gone because the hobby died, I just renewed my license for another 10 years just so I have it.

Amateur radio is not that expensive to get into.

A lot of it depends on which bands you'd like to communicate on, and what mode you'd like to use.

You can even get on the Internet using packet radio. You can talk via satellites. You can talk to the Space Station. You can use the HTs to talk to your friends ... like FRS without sharing the channel with a hundred other users (at the same time).

You can even learn enough about radio stuff to make your 802.11 wireless stuff work better. Waves is waves.

Ham radio is a Good Thing.

Yeah... sure. Most emergency services will tell you otherwise especially in times of emergency such as hurricaines and all. 🙂

Tho I haven't used mine in prolly 5 years. 🙁
