Whats your best IT support story?

The sys admin where I work has a friend who has a computer illiterate boss. The boss was bitching one day about how slow his computer was, knowin that there was nothing wrong with the computer, the Sys Admin agreed to look at it anyways. When the boss was out, the sys admin put a new monitor on the computer. When the boss got back he commented that he didnt know what the Sys Admin did, but his computer was running a lot faster.... LOL

What are your best computer support stories?

 

Guy calls in, says his hair is on fire.
Tech tells him to beat it out with his laptop.
Guy does, and it works.
Tech gets raise.

I am not in Tech Support but one day a member of upper managment complained his laptop was too slow and told a girl there to try to upgrade it from win 95 to win 98. So she put a floppy disk in a computer with win 98 and saved some win 98 icon she saw on the computer. Then she put the floppy in the win 95 computer to upgrade it. That's when I walked in and shook my head.

This was back a few years ago... I'm working as a net admin/ tech support guru for about 300 person company.

Person calls in to say that they can't access the internet (we disconnected the line so we could upgrade from 56k to T1 access ). They say they can't connect at all, they're getting an error every time. I say... My coworker tripped ofer the ethernet line and all the bits fell out, we're working as fast as we can to get them back in the line but it's difficult because we have to put them back in order. The person thinks about it for a second, says they'll wait for us to be finished, thanks us, and hangs up the phone! I had to leave early that day, I was laughing too hard!
