HI all,

Here is my spec:

Athlon 990mhz with Abit KA7-100 mobo
Asus V7700 GF2 GTS using Nvidia D3 6.5 driver
128MB PC133 ram
100mbps NIC
Verizon DSL Internet connection
SoundBlaster live! value
3DMARK200 is 6800

I get AVERAGE of 65fps running in ALL the following resolutions:
640X480
800X600
1078X760
1280X1078

Funny how same fps on ALL resolutions! How can this be??

Here is my question:
Is it possible to beef up the frame rate over 100fps??? IF yes, pls indicate what driver and what resolution and how to tweak it.

Whats your Avg fps in UT?

I get AVERAGE of 65fps

In the cityintro I presume?

That's far too low for your system. You should be getting ~90 FPS. My P3 @ 728 + GF2 MX is getting 75 FPS at 640 x 380 x 32 and 74 FPS at 800 x 600 x 32.

Are you running the game in Direct 3D mode?
Have you patched it to the latest 4.36 version?

thanks for your help...But I have latest patch 4.36 and it is running in D3D version 7a...although I did tried it with Direct x 8. still the same frame rate. I know I should be getting at least average 90fps running at 640X480 right? Dang it!

someone help...

Hawk,

I thought I had Vsync turned off...but then again, I have 21" monitor and running UT at 100mhz vertical refresh rate.

Can there be something else? I do get great 3Dmark2000 scores = 6800

help

You may want to check you UT.ini file. I know when I tweaked to use the high resolution texture and OpenGL, the max framerates I get at any resolution is 60. But the "Tweek" to the .ini file restricts it.

If you need more info about the .ini file, do a search on UT and D3D (I think).

Ok, I couldn't just let you do it, sorry.

Here is the line that restrict my fps and maybe yours too. It can be found in the UT.ini file under whatever api you are running.
RefreshRate=60

Here is the thread I was talking about:
Ut and D3D

CMAMATH,

Thanks, I'll check it out after work tonight. Could you tell me what specs you have on your system and avg fps you get running UT in Open GL high texture quality? I might want to play around with that since you mentioned the display is much better than D3D. I think I should get a good frame rate on my system running it Open GL. TIA

Yeah, in UT's ini file there may be a command line that sets your refresh, though it's not there by default. What do you get at 1600x1200? Oh, and there's a box for "max frames desired" or something, don't know if that would limit your fps though.

I am running:
1.1GHz AMD Thunderbird CPU
Asus AV7 KT133 motherboard (using 1005 bios)
256MBs PC133SDRAM
45GB IBM Deskstar 75GXP
12/10/32 Plexwriter CD-RW
64MB DDR Hercules 3D Prophet 2 (using 6.50 det)
SoundBlaster Live! X-Gamer
3COM/US Robotics 56k v.90 modem
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1
Windows Millenium Edition

I run at 1280x1024x32 color EVERYTHING on maximum, and my fps usually stick right at 58-60fps. Here is the .ini file that I am using with OpenGL and Renderers:
[OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
RefreshRate=60
UseTrilinear=0
UseS3TC=1
UseTNT=0
LODBias=0
UseMultiTexture=1
UsePalette=1
UseAlphaPalette=0

Lucifer, have you tried using D3d and the compressed textures on the 2nd CD??

mother of God, it's like a completely different game

agreed tho, for LAN's, stick with glide, but for single player, I gotta go D3d + compressed textures.

cma, how come you don't use trilinear?
have you tried setting lodbias to a negative #?

Um....I'm gonna ask a really dumb question but....how do you do a timedemo in UT? I've tried going to the console and running "timedemo 1" and nothing happens. I've even tried it in a game...and nothing happens. You mentioned the cityintro and so I was wondering if that was the timedemo. If it is...how exactly do you get it to work? Thanks!

jcwagers: are you hitting the "Enter" key after you type in "timedemo 1"?:) After you do that, hit the "~" again to hide the console for a more accurate reading.

hit the ~ key and type
timedemo 1 <enter>
start cityintro <enter>
hit the ~ key again

it'll run through the demo. you'll see when it's done, it'll be pretty obvious, then it'll start looping again

just hit the ~ key agian, and you'll see your min, max and average framerate statistics from the previous demo run
