I listened to the new Tool album recently and it sucks if you are looking for hard rock. I ended up buying Creed.

If you want hard rock, you don't want long pointless intros and you DO want lots and lots of power riffs.

The only (Metal) band I like is Nightwish... no other band can even come close.

I used to listen to the Beatles and The Who, then Korn and The Offspring, Metallica and then Cradle of Filth which was the start of my interest in Metal :)

Zepplin, Van Halen(all albums, including III), Steppenwolf, Rare Earth, Iron Butterfly, SRV, Hendrix!, The Who, The Guess Who, Edgar Winter Group(Frankenstein), Clapton, Cream, The Doors, I could go on and on and on.

If I were asked to pick one favorite, I would not be able to.

Sometimes, I mean Sometimes... I can even stomach 70s "Corporate Rock" aka Boston, Styx, Kansas, etc

HaHaHa...RAP/R&B/Country....First my humor.....RAP:All of the dead rappers(because they're dead),R&B "Otis Redding, Sam& Dave,Country: Which one? Chinese, Australian,French?

But seriously....About the closest I can come to rap is "Rage against the Machine",and rarely.Hey,It's my opinion! R&B:
Otis,Nat King Cole,Sam and Dave(but they're getting awfully close to "commercial"; Country- David Alan Coe, Dwight Yoakum, Willie Nelson;Johnny Cash.

Mostly I'm at a loss when it comes to these genre's, as I don't listen to 'em much.

I like some "Buckwheat Zydeco" when I get really crazed, and Bob Marley and Peter Tosh(reggae)once in awhile.

I concur completely with your Assesment of Stevie Ray Vaughan....I saw him w/Jeff Beck about 3 mos. before he died....A Phenomenal loss to music lovers everywhere.

Hard Rock/Metal/ in the 'somebody new' category...."GODSMACK". They kick *ss.

Rap is , as was said in "The Soprano's" Tv show..."all about the marketing, now".It's the most commercial form of music that there is.Clothes.Lifestyle.Attitude'gangsta'. Bulls*it!!!!

Sisters of mercy...tell me about them! I went to a Catholic School until I went to Junior High.A few of those nuns were mean, bro!Put out your hand and hit your knuckles with a metal-edged ruler!

No wonder I like hard rock. What is the band like, who is similar in style? I might just pick up on one of their CD's.
