what's wrong with this cable?

I have a cable, newly crimped, which is acting temperamental. It works fine between an old 300mhz machine and my router, but won't work between my main box and the same router. I connect, it doesn't work, i reconnect the stock cable, it works fine.

Tester says all the pairs are ok, no shorts, no reversals. My router lights up and blinks EVEN with the main box connected, when the computer says it has no access to the internet or to the network.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Suggestions? I've recrimped this thing twice, and the same problem persists...

What order did you put the wires into the connector? Like, what colors went where? Do the wires hang out the end of the jacket before they enter the connector? Are all the contacts seated?

Google on EIA/TIA 568A and / or EIA/TIA 568B. Also look for definitions of "Split Pair"

Good Luck
