I copied the exact thread from him for your reading pleasure and see you may come up with some reasonable explaination to respond to what I'd call a horrible score for such a powerful system (well it's Dell. Okay?)
Is it the Intel or psu or x1900xtx or all of the above?
Little disappointed... didn't even break 4500 on 3dmark06. The graphics test lookd great and were chugging, but the CPU tests looked horrible. I suspect I'll see improvement with the next Catalyst release. From what I understand, the version of Catalyst I'm using now--which came w/ the card, is a modified version of Catalyst 5.something, and is the only Catalyst driver that currently works w/ the x1900xtx--doesn't work particularly well w/ dual processors, but subsequent versions do.
Anyone have any thoughts on why my CPU tests on 3dmark06 are going so poorly?
Dell XPS 400, PD 2.8G
3 GB DDR2 (1GB DDR2-533, 2GB DDR2-667)
Dell 1905FP
ATI Radeon x1900xtx
250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
