Whats wrong with the Intel 815??

I recently ordered a P3-800 (133 FSB) and an Intel 815 (their brand, 815-chipset w/ Creative on-board sound). Before you blast me for doing it, it was a bundle at a really good price (price < $250) so I thought I'd go ahead and get it.

Anyway, I am currently running an ABIT BH6 1.01 w/ a C2-566@952 w/ GORB and MSI Master slotket, using 1 64 MB PC100 Micron and 1 64 MB PC100 Kingston (I know the Kingston does 133 for sure, the Micron probably does but I have yet to be able to jack it that high)

The BH6 1.01 doesn't support the 1/4 divider so theres a really good chance the 800 won't even work on it, so I guess I'm stuck using the 815 (don't have any more $$ to spend buying a new one, and the licensing agreement I came into when I bought the bundle does not allow me to resell it).

My question is, what is the performance difference between the 815 and the BH6 in everyone's opinion? The BH6 is based off the old BX chipset btw. I can disable the on-board sound so thats not a problem, but is there going to be any stability issues? (The processor won't be oc-ed any btw)

Material performance difference after you take into account faster AGP and ATA? Not much actually. I think Anand's benchmarks show that the BX still just edges out the i815E, although a well optimised board should equal the performance of a BX system.

Right now I'm only using ATA33 and AGP 2x, should I keep it the video card at 2x if I switch?

I don't think it really matters if your AGP runs at 2x or 4x. I had a P2 400 system that ran at 2x and I have a P3 700 system now running at 4x and I don't notice any difference. It wouldn't hurt to run 2x, but if your card supports it, you might as well run it at 4x. At the very least it'll make your system sound cooler when you tell people the specs 😛
