I have dots or lines or something on my screen. This usually happens after awhile or I log on to my computer the second or third time in a day or switch accounts. Sometimes moving around a window will erase the little green things sometimes not. Right now its only on my desktop but it will be on webpages sometimes too. I have a BFG Geforce 6800gt and I am running driver 71.89.

Preview of messed up

Hmm the pic doesnt look to good, but the little green dashes kinda remind me of the matrix.

It looks like your card is dying. If you've overclocked it, I would suggest reverting to the original clock speeds.

Heat may have something to do with it. Is your card a Leadtek? Try screwing the hs just a little tighter.

That's what my defective X1900XTX would do as well. Try running something a bit more demanding like 3DMark05, chances are it will aritfact in that as well. If it does, RMA the card.

I rebooted my computer and the artifacts went away and then I ran 3dmark05 and it didnt cause any artifacts but I scored a 5035 which seems low. I averaged like 14, 21, and then 2 fps (cpu tests) on the tests and when I built this computer a year ago I dont remember getting that low of fps. On another note I called BFG and they said I could RMA the card but I dont want to send it back and be without my computer for over a week if it's not the card.

Run rthdribl and see if the artifacts appear. That utility generates alot of heat.

I thought that it might be overheating but 73C doesnt seem to be that high. Looks like your card may be dying, I'd say download 3dmark2001SE because it allows you to loop the test. I'd say download it and loop the test overnight, if your problem still persists, I'd say call BFG and try and RMA the card.

73C is well within normal ranges for the core but in my experience the memory chips for the 6800gt/ultra series may overheat.
