When I had appendicitis I didn't have any other symptoms beside the pain. I went to the hospital and they did a blood test for white cell count, which came back normal. So they sent me home with some stuff for gas. The next day the pain was even worse so I went back. They did another cell count and it was through the roof. Had surgery the next day.

They did another test, but I'll let that be a surprise. :)

The pain for me has been relatively the same. If it gets worse tomorrow, I'll go to the ER.

Everyone is different...it can be higher and up below the last right rib to down just above the hip, and even on the left in some freak cases. I had my appendix removed a couple of months ago and my pain was in the center behind the belly button.

I had severe pain and some nausea. It was diagnosed on CT and was said to be around 15mm in diameter. When removed, he said it was "obviously inflamed and needed to come out".

It did fix my issues, but obviously won't be everyone's source of abdominal pain...just kind of a report on my experience. An enlarged appendix even with pain is also not always at risk of bursting as people think, and they're removed unnecessarily all the time. Sometimes though, the pain never goes away, and it may just need to come out.

I just did a quick google search and found new study says it can be treated with antibiotics. I want to go that route first if this is what I have.

This is true, and if it gets worse or just persists, an ER visit would be worthwhile.

Usually appendicitis has a group of symptoms, as you suspect, especially an elevated white count as it is caused by an infection. Though please, if it won't go away head to the ER for a quick scan.

Lift anything heavy lately? Right side could be an umbilical hernia. Doctors miss those a lot. If you feel something there, that is your intestine, push back in while laying on your back.

Could also be diverticulosis or diverticulitis. Eat any small seeds lately?

Could also be IBS if you had a blowout around when this started.

Gallbladder stones are a possibility as well. Go to the health food store and get some lecithin.

What kind of pain is it? Sharp? Dull? Nauseating? Radiating? Etc. And where specifically is it located? Under the rib cage (if so what side)? On or around the bellybutton? When you press on it do you feel something compress and then rebound?

I've had all sorts of abdominal "issues" the past few years. Had gall stones and pancreatitis a few years ago. Felt like I was being continually punched in the gut. Pain was on the right side of my torso underneath the rib cage. Sometimes it got so bad I would puke. Some attacks lasted 3-4 hours, others were only a few minutes. Started out thinking it was bad indigestion. But the attacks got worse over the course a year. Finally was diagnosed with a liver function test ultrasound.

Eventually I had the gallbladder removed. Which was great until I developed an incisional hernia. That was a different kind of constant pain. Felt like a burning "soreness" around my naval. Would get worse after I ate, and felt better after a BM. When I pushed on the area I could feel something push inwards, and then rebound when pressure was released. Went to the doc and was immediatel diagnosed with an abdominal hernia. Had surgery to fix it earlier this year.

Since the gallbladder surgery I have been fighting with post cholesystectomy syndrome, which presents a lot like chrone's disease. Eating a fatty meal usually means a trip to the bathroom in short order, typically after quite a bit of abdominal discomfort.

Sorry for the graphic details but thought I would describe what I went through just in case what you are feeling is similar. Maybe it will give you a head start towards getting some treatment.

Good luck and feel better.

PS - been on any strong antibiotics lately? Some of them can cause an intestinal infection, which can produce quite a bit of pain and alarming symptoms (e.g., bloody poops).

i dont know what it is, but i too have had that pain, it's hard to describe, but yeah right above/beside your belly button, and like a "tightness" to the area, it is extremely uncomfortable, i always thought possible like a bladder infection or something, but never showed any of those types of signs... colored urine, or cloudy, or anything..just the weird tightness.

it DID eventually go away by itself, just one second there, next second gone. could have just been an air bubble or something.

Here's a tip for releasing gas - get down on all 4s and raise your butt while lowering your chest. The gas has a tendency to come out easiest that way. Make sure you're alone.

That's a tip for anal penetration.
