It no longer likes to read regular cds. I've had this thing for about 2 weeks, and now it can list the files on a cd, and sometimes open directories, but it can't open or copy files (open = not a valid win32 app, copy = cannot read from source). anyone know?

try to clean the lens. It might be dirty. Open it and clean it gently. If that's still not working try to upgrade the firmware.

I had a problem with mine suddenly being unable to read burned discs. I flashed the firmware and that fixed it. Unfortunately, it appears dead now.:(

I've had 2 Pioneer DVD drives go bad on me in the last year. They both exhibited the same problems you are having. Check for any clicking noises when it's trying to read.

I experienced the clicking noises when I had the DVD-104s and the 105s (i think). Neither one of the drives ever failed on me though. Now I have a 106s (go figure) with no probs.
