whats wrong with my network

I just hooked up a dlink 624 wireless router to my network and downloads off of edonkey and bit torrent are really slow. Before, when i had my cable modem going straight into my nic, i was getting a total of between 200-300kbps. Now i get about 10-15kbps. I still get really good speed of reagular websites though. I've tested my bandwith at dslreports and im still getting pretty good bandwith. So whats up with my network. Is my router jacking everything up? Its brand new, like 2 days old. thanks for your time

I get the same download speeds on bittorrent using a cable modem with a wireless router network.
