whats wrong with my lite-on

i have a 40x lite on burner
it won't finish burning
in either nero or clone CD

i have the latest versions of both

it starts burning but the buffer just runs out in the end

so i stuck my old lite-on 24x in and it works fine
whats the problem?
how can i get it rma'd since i bought it from dell back in the day for 50 bucks?
and dell doens't provide service

i was thinking about getting
ss51g
is it worthit over just getting a reg tower?
or a laptop?

yah the xpc is worth it my friend bought the ss41g and it rocks also if im not mistaken the ss51g has an 845g chipset with a 533 fsb so it is preaty aupgradable with memory and processors. plus it looks badass best system ive ever seen and its quiet as hell.
