What's wrong with my laptop's screen?

I have a Dell 9300 with the WXGA display.

There's a line about 4 inches long going down from the top of my monitor on the left side. The width of this line is 1 pixel. The line isn,t really solid, as in there are a few pixel gaps throughout. The pixels of this line continuously blink and it is not always noticable, but is almost always noticable when the background is white or a light color.

I noticed this happening a week or two ago and I didn't think much of it...but the 'line' has seemed to get longer. I'm wondering if there's a way to fix it, or if this is permanent and has potential to become worse. My laptop is still under complete care, so is this a valid reason to get it the screen replaced?

Just plug in and run an external monitor. If that's fine, your LCD is kaput. If that also has line issues, your video card is kaput.

Ok, I'll open it up and check the connections.

If I do get it replaced though, do you think I can get it upgraded to the 1920x1200 resolution?....:D

If you're under warranty, just let them fix it :) I do'nt think you could get higher res though.

Yeah, I would just make them fix it. Probably 90% chance it's the screen anyways.
