I have old low-end Onkyo Pro Logic receiver with Polk mains, center and Polk M2 surrounds. My problem is the surrounds sound awful at low volumes; crackly and very poor. I tried hooking them up with short pieces of speaker wire to see, as well as to the main inputs, and the problem persists. When I turn the volume up, they come alive, but they are only for surrounds and are played at low volume most of the time.
I am getting a new Denon 1602 for 5.1, which I hope will cure the problem. Could it be the wire, speakers, reciever, or just inefficiency?
Any info would help, cause I am about to build a subwoofer but want to "fix" this first.
