OK, this is really starting to piss me off. I've moved to my grandparent's for a couple of months while I intern. Anyway, I've had to return to dial-up from this hick ISP out here in the boondocks.

I can dial-in with my laptop or my grandparent's computer fine, but my main desktop has stopped connecting tonight. It was working fine last night.

I'm using WinXP Pro and a Diamond SupraExpress 56k external modem. It will dial-in and get to "verifying username and password" but then disconnect. I usually get something like "remote computer has terminated connection" or "there was an error with equipment," but occasionally I get a more informative error that says "unable to negotiate PPP protocols" or something like that. But the only place there is anything about PPP is when you choose the kind of server you're dialing and PPP is chosen and I've played around with checking the three boxes in its "Advanced" menu.

I really don't understand what my problem is, especially since it was working last night and none of my other PC's are having problems. Of course none of the other computers are running XP either. Connection there? Any suggestions? Thanks guys
