What's wrong with my couch...

Ok, so...a friend of mine sat down on the couch the other day, and we heard this 'sproing' noise, and the couch stopped supporting them. Now when you sit on this spot of the couch you sort of sink in....there's no spring poking up through the couch, but something's definetly wrong. What's wrong with it, and how do i fix it??

Try cutting a piece of plywood and put under that part.....or even under the cushions all the way across the couch. The couch won't be springy anymore but with the cushions it should still be fairly comfortable.
