What's wrong with my computer? *Problem Solved*

Lately when I leave my PC on for extended periods of time it either locks-up or I get constant BSODs. What's wrong?

Are you overclocking your system?

Is it overclocked? If so it may be running on the edge of it's maxiumum alllowable speed. It could also be overheating, overclocking creates much more heat and the processor can run much hotter if your cpu cooling system isn't addequate. If it's not overclocked, and is an older unit, could be the cpu fan needs oil or repalcing, or heat sink fins have collected enuff dust over time to decrease it's efficiency. I f none of the above sound right, we may need more info for diagnosis. You could try reseating the memory? Power supply getting weak? Could be one of many things. Suppose it could be software, but usually one of the above.

edit- I now see by your system stats you are overclocked by 200mhz. Try increased cooling or slow it down one notch, I think this will cure your problem.

Have you upgraded to the newest client?

dnetc v2.8012-466-GTR-01020321 for Win32

I did yesterday. Got my first DNETC client crash since I can't remember when (running OGR).

I also have an OC'd MSI Pro-2A, 1ghz @ 1.263ghz 1.8V

Yes, I upgraded my client yesterday, that's also when my trouble began. I think I will switch to a older version and see what happens.

Personally I think it could be your memory....

I see you said Micron PC-100...very good memory, I use them myself, I got 4 of them in my system right now.....but, You are running them at 125Mhz...may be a little much for you stick...try getting a stick of pc-133 and see if the problem goes away....Good luck...

Thanks JonB! switching to an older client solved my problem 😀. SpaceWalker, my memory is not at 125MHz it's at 100MHz, I'm using the multiplier to overclock 😉.

Mine was crashed when I got home today. Bu-Bye, 466. Back to 463 for now. Lost about 2 hours of prime OGR time.
