Sometimes if the network is busy ( too many users for the cell site) your phone won't even ring if you get a incoming call. I've had this problem a few times with cingular where I couldn't make out going calls because my phone would pop up a message saying network busy and I couldn't get incoming calls either.

I like when people post questions like this. There's really no information at all located in their question, and it basically comes out to "Hi, my cell phone didnt work yesterday, how come?"

I'm guessing it was due to aliens, or that you didnt have signal... but most likely it was aliens.

you guys are so helpful

The reasons this could have happenned are:
1. low/no signal
2. low battery
3. error with your phone
4. error with your provider

No way to pin it down without seeing it happen in person.

The meteor showers are caused by aliens, so the originating factor is still aliens.

It's true.

Intel created aliens because Intel is evil... or maybe aliens created Intel. I forget which.

Can we get some actual clarification? I bet efript would really like to know what went wrong.

I know Verizon told me once that it's good to turn off and on your phone each day so the network locates your phone or some crap like that...When I had that problem turning it on and off always did fix the problem- only thing was I didnt know it was happning till someone told me they had been tryin to reach me...mad me wonder how many important calls I could have missed.
I'd call up your provider

Well you see, he has yet to post back at all in here more details of his problem, his original post had zero usable information. So we are just enjoying the thread and the possibilities of aliens distrupting communication with intel and meteor showers.

seriously man, just call your provider. They know a lot more about their specific system then us. Besides, they can do cool stuff that you can't. Like once when i was having problems connecting to the internet, I called them up and they told me that 2 of the 4 key services had shut down on my phone. While talking to the tech, on my cell, he was restarting system services wirelessly. They also downloaded a few update/troubleshooting programs to my phone and ran them, completely invisible from my end.

As far as specific carriers go, when i first got sprint i was missing calls(not any more though). Thinking it was just sprint, I asked around and just about everyone on all the major carriers said they miss call. There are so many technical factors that determine that. Can't blame it on just the carrier.

Don't know about other areas but we have AT&T and it is horrible. We will be switching to Verizon in the next month.

Heh. Yep, definitely the worst provider in my experience.
