One of my cars is a 1998 Ford Contour with around 70,000 miles on it. I'm the 2nd owner and the first owner traded it with <10k miles, so it was in really good condition. Its been parked in a garage overnights since it was purchased and is still in pretty good condition...
It's never had any real big problems
The check engine light has been on a while but it's kind of sensitive (on and off randomly) so I've always ignored it unless something noticeable was wrong
BUT ANYWAY
I went to turn the car on today and I always push the brake in when turning the key/putting it in to reverse, but for some reason the brake wouldn't push down... like it were locked
I ignored it and put it in reverse and then everything was fine
Then, I went to fed ex, faxed something and when I came out I got in the car and turned it on. I put it in to drive and took my foot off the break but it didn't go forward (didnt put gas, tho).. so I was like wtf? and thought maybe I just didn't fully start it (only turned it half way for radio, etc), so I turned the key forward again and quickly stopped cause I heard it already started (ugly noise lol). Then I put it in to drive again and it worked fine, so I ignored it
THEN FINALLY, I left work today and started the car and put it in reverse and started turning the wheel the direction I wanted to go but it wouldn't turn easily so I figure it was already turned to that direction as far as it could go... I let it drift in reverse but noticed it wasn't going the way that would make sense for it to go if the wheel had been turned that way so I started pushing the break which was really tight (couldnt push it down far) and the steering wheel was really hard to turn too.... I put it in park half way out of my parking spot.. waited a minute and then started it again and it was fine all of the way home.
ANY THOUGHTS? btw, check engine light is no longer on (lollll?)
thanks <3
