I've had this card for almost 2 years now. In the last 2 days something really weird happened. I was browsing the net and i clicked a link and all of a sudden my whole secreen had these vertical lines of wide thickness and different colours. I had never seen that before. So i restarted my computer and all was fine again and i get a little popup saying windows determined it was something to do with my ATI Radeon 64MB DDR video card and that i should update the drivers.

So then i did that. I went to ATI's website and downloaded and installed the drivers and i thought all was fine. Then again today the same thing happened. The vertical lines took over my screen and i couldn't do anything. I had to reboot and windows gave me the same message about updating the drivers.

Do i have to buy a new video card now? Right now the card is working fine, but i don't know when it will do that thing again. Any ideas?

thanks.

Is there a lot of dust on it? You didn't specify which ATI 64mb DDR card you have so I can't say for sure but some people have said that the ATI Radeon VE versions with 64mb of DDR Ram have problems such as this when they get too much dust.

Mine's not a VE. I got mine before all those numbered ati cards came out. ( you know the 7500, 9000, 7000, etc.)

Mine was just ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO. It was made by ATI. Not another company using ATI card.

I did have alot of dust and i tried to blow it all off as much as possible. There's not telling if it worked yet. I guess i'll have to wait and see. If nothing happens for a day or two then it probably was a dust problem. I hope that's the problem.
