What's wrong with my ADSL?

Hopefully you guys know more than the idiots at Earthlink. Basically my problem is that the line keeps going in and out every couple of minutes. I can connect okay, but right after I do the lights on the modem go out (the DSL light goes out, the ATM light blinks, have a Speedstream 5260) and I can't connect to anything. After about 30 seconds to a minute it reconnects and all lights go green, and it's fine for about a minute, then the lights go out and it goes out again... but after about 30 seconds or so it comes back. It never goes out long enough for me to lose the connection, but it never stays connected long enough for me to be able to do anything (except maybe get my E-mail). It does this all the time usually, some days are better than others. I've had this line for over a year (installed by Covad) and it's been fine until recently, I haven't made any changes... it just keeps going out. :( Any ideas? I've tried all the stupid suggestions Earthlink told me, and supposedly they're looking into it.

I agree w/ jfunk, have them test you phone line, before you do though, make sure that every connection in your house/apartment is secure and that there aren't any loose connections and the like, because usually, if they runa line test and all is well, you might get charged. Hope this helps.
