What's wrong with me? My sinuses have been stopped up all summer.

I feel completely healthy. I don't ever sneeze or cough... I don't smoke. I exercise and have plenty of energy.

For some reason, whenever spring/summer rolls around, the sinuses in my head just fill up with crap and I start sounding more nasally (spelling?) and people ask me if I have cold. And I don't!

This started last summer... and it goes away as summer goes on, but I'm wondering if there is anything I can do. I'm tired of people asking me if I have a cold when I talk to them on the phone. I'm not "allergic" to anything that I know of... I'm 21 years old and I didn't have allergies as a child, I could run and play in a giant field of wildflowers and I'd be fine.

If I blow my nose and clear it out it is pretty much clear and it fills itself back up within a couple minutes. Nothing drains and I don't appear sick at all, you can just hear it in my voice. Annoying! Help me.

Allergies. I used to think that allergies were for the weak but in Bama this summer and last, around the same tmie of year, I've gone through a little phase of serious sniffling/runny nose crap, so I figured that it must be allergies. I'm healthy as a horse with no other allergies, so I've now determined that I'm simply too pure for the environment down here.

Is that covered by insurance?
How about you, oh I don't know...ask your insurer? Sheesh.

I'm at work and I'm curious if something like this is typically covered by insurance, sheesh!

I don't know what an allergist is specifically, but a standard doct-whore can, I think, give you a check for basic allergies, and that will be covered by insurance. A GP can give you some prescription meds too.

some plans do, some plans don't. you'll have to check yours to find out.

also, definitely sounds like allergies. especially considering the timing.

my allergies hit in april/may and go away as summer gets going.

An Allergist is considered a medical specialist, like an orthopedic surgeon or a cardiologist. If you are in a PPO, you can typically go see whomever you choose without a "referral" from a "primary care physician.' If you're in an HMO, it gets more complicated since you'll need to get a referral first.

In any case, most medical plans cover any "office visit"... including one to an Allergist.

Might be a reaction to the altitude. Perhaps you could trade in your High-Horse for a Not-Quite-As-High-Horse and see if that helps at all. 😛

You're suffering from allergies I think.

I'm suprised no one mention something like the spider or the cousin yet.

Ouch.. lol

Goto an allegist, ask about Flonase. That stuff is wonderful. I've had bad allergies most of my life and that stuff keeps my sinuses clear. Works like a charm 🙂
