What's wrong with leaving "security" issues to the states?

I've always wondered why a national PATRIOT Act was necessary. Is there something that the Federal Government can do relating to national security that the states couldn't do if they wished?

I don't think it's even necessary at the state level, but if the statists in New York want it, then they can have one for themselves.

What?

What do you mean by "security"? You talking about the Feds giving control of the US armed forces to states or do you mean other "security" issues?

will the ignore feature block entire threads from appearing, or just individual posts within the threads?

I meant things in the PATRIOT Act.

Although the Feds giving control of the US Armed forces to the states wouldn't be a bad idea, that wasn't what I was talking about.

So, we should have 50 versions of the FBI, CIA, NSA, etc..

Fifty times as many people with access to highly classified info will improve security? Who will vet them?

There is a known problem exchanging intel between the federal agencies now, why not multiply the problem 50 fold?

Iowa should run the Navy? Kansas the Coast Guard? Colorado the amphibious Marine forces?

How does your brain work anyway?

Your assumption there is slightly off - you assume his brain works. :awe:

HOA's are an example of what happens when regular people get a taste of the government's power - corruption and intrusiveness. :awe:

Clearly the transition will go smoothly then. Perfect fit. No Cars parked in Driveways, no colours outside the Official Swatch, and suspected Terrorists will be Gitmo'd.

It's called the constitution. Once again, most of OP's threads could have been avoided through a solid high school education or some community college courses.

most states would be better off returning to territory status and reclaim their lost sovereignty.

Then the stronger states could annex their weaker neighbors to loot their resources.
