I don't do either, but I would says cigs.

When a person is drunk near me they are just annoying.
When they are standing in line next to me at Six Flags with a cig burning they are killing me and pissing me off. :|

Sorry, I've needed to get that out for months. :)

cigarettes by a landslide. Although, I've never seen a person smoke a pack of cigs and run his car into a family of six.

when someone in a room is smoking

everyone in the room is smoking :frown::disgust:

Somedbody post the statistics of cancer death versus non-vehivular alcohol related death.

I'm pretty sure cigs win as the more dangerous of the two. However to paraphrase a great American, "All things in moderation and none to excess." and a related direct quote from the same source, "There are more old drunkards than old doctors."

Physically, cigarettes are much worse. Alcohol, when taken in moderation, can be good for your health. Cigarettes are just plain bad for your body.

Mentally, I'd say alcohol is worse for a large number of reasons I'd rather not type out.

It's not all about deaths. What about a Drunk Husband beating the sh1t out of their wife?

Hamburger, I always new pretty blond women were just the devil masquerading. :)

I think we're talking about bad for your body. Not what you do to other people. The effects of second hand smoke are still unknown, but it can't be good. I've heard that studies indicate that children of smoking adults have a higher likelihood to develop more severe allergies and have asthma than children of non-smokers. I'm sure the list goes on.....

Well with alcohol you have a chance of getting some action :D

With cigarettes you just stink.

I'd say both, if not moderated. I think it depends on your body constitution or maybe your genes. Some people are more prone to lung cancer, others to liver problems.

Cigarrettes are just a small annoynace to me - doesn't bother me that much, and if I don't like it, most ppl are willing to put it out if you ask nicely (i've never had anybody tell me no). Alcohol I would have to say is worse, if done regularly...the more you drink, the more likely you are to drive drunk or abuse your wife, or commit any other crime.

As far as deaths go...

From 1992-1999:
3.2 million tobacco deaths
1.4 million alcohol deaths

Personally though, I think alcohol is worse, just because of the effect it has on the person using it.

cigs, i am frequently annoyed by cigarette smokers, whereas i have almost never been annoyed by people drinking alcohol, at least by that action. thus, cigs are worse.

at least with alcohol there is a definite "high" that you get out of it.... cigs are pointless... u get dirty, bad breath, and taste like arse.... so cigs are worse

alcohol doesn't make you beat up people, or drive while being intoxicated. It's the person itself that makes the choice to be violent or careless. I've been drunk countless times, and i've always made certain i didn't act violently, or was a danger to others, nor would i ever drive while being intoxicated.

Anyway, if a wife gets beaten because her husband was drunk, she'd better blame it on him than on alcohol, and move out.

Using alcohol responsably never hurts anyone but the drinker.
Using cigs responsably makes everyone's clothes smell horribly, and causes their loungs to die off.
