I went to my local store couples days ago to pick up an Sonicare tooth brush and wanna see what's all the fuss is about. so, i've walked to the tooth brush section and saw the Sonicare price tag, it was like $120!!!!! that is insane for a little tooth brush. It's not much different than the $5 battery Crest brush. so..i walked out of the store empty handed.

i think i want one.

supposedly they make your mouth as clean as the hygenist at the dentist's office. the spin brush doesn't do that.

i have one. i've noticed it cuts the brushing time in at least half and you mouth feels cleaner longer. it keeps your teeth whiter too.

edit: i got werk's deal. its really not that bad price for all that. comes with a travel case too.

They work great. If you have a Sam's or Costco near you, you can get 2 handles & brush heads + 1 charger for $75. My gf and I have them...they make your teeth feel super clean, and improve the effectiveness of any whitening toothpastes you may use.

I have one (not the new elite series). Works really well, I'd definately front the money and get one.

Just about any electric toothbrush is going to be more effective at removing/preventing plaque buildup than a manual one. The sonicare moves something like 3 times faster than other electrics, so it's going to be even more effective at cleaning in the same amount of time.

My wife and I each got one as wedding gifts from our friends (I still don't know if they were trying to send a message to us or not). Anyway, we love ours. I feel a noticable difference in my teeth when I use a regular tooth brush vs. when I use my Sonicare. I do think that it makes my teeth cleaner and keeps them that way for longer.

In the infomercial it shows the sonic waves cracking the plaque and it literally sliding off your teeth is this an accurate portrayal

supposedly (according to my dentist), the brushing action is augmented by a vibrating action
at high frequencies which help shed the tartar (the white gunk on your teeth) the brush and/or
floss cannot get to. Next best thing to a hygenist, he says.

What I know about sonic action on hard materials is from sonic welding in plastics. There, if you
leave a fairly tight fitting set of plastic shells together and apply a little pressure and a sonic pulse,
the shells weld together to make a part.

I hope that doesn't happen to your teeth with this toothbursh.

I was looking into this awhile ago and went for the braun oralb 3d excel instead since it had a round brush which I liked better. did lots of research and couldn't find anything saying one was better than the other.

Sonicare is the best.

I used to have an Interplak and I thought it was great... the Sonicare is even better unless you don't care about getting your teeth as clean as possible. :D

There have been numerous threads about Sonicare's posted here... and I've never seen anybody who didn't like theirs. My dentist and I both think it was worth every penny. I think I got mine from Walmart with 1 handle, brush head, travel case, and charger for $80ish.

I have had one for a while and personally I hate it. It makes this REALLY loud buzzing noise and vibrates. It's just too much for me to handle first thing in the morning.

i think they're made by phillips, which is a reputable company

Philips owns it now, but Optiva (formerly GEMTech) developed and sold it until "Philips Domestic Appliance and Personal Care" aquired Optiva. Before that they were just a small company in Bellvue Washington (near Seattle).

I've owned Sonicare's for about a decade now, and during their first generation units, the housing would crack near the on/off button from the pressure. They have since eleviated that problem. They replaced my unit 4 times during the 1990's without any hassle whatsoever. I give the previous company very high marks. I hope philips keeps the same standard of customer service that Optiva had.
