You're new here.
Stick around, follow the posters on here.
A full 95% of members here live with their parents.
They all make or comment on Home buying, 401Ks, Stock Market & investments, liquor, etc. just like adults, but sooner or later thay will make a post whining how their Mom won't let them do such & such.
Granted, not all of them live in a basement, per se, but they live with their parents (If their parents have a basement, that's where they'll live).

So, is that quote in your sig an "outing" of a forum member who was discovered to be younger than he actually is??? (why else would you make it a quote????)

The Internet is really tricky. Some people go to great lengths to fabricate an online version of themselves. Ever see the film "Catfish"?

I've had multiple friends that lived in their parents' basements. It has a negative connotation because, if you're content with that life and don't aspire to move out or become successful, you probably won't get laid much.

My co-worker lives in his parents basement but he recently came over from Columbia, where living with your parents is more acceptable and is studying to enter an optometry program (after working as one in Columbia for many years). No shame in saving money. Shame if you're just a leech with no ambition of moving out.

The two guys I know that lived in their respective parents' basements both got married, and continued living there after marriage. One lived there for a year and the other is going on 7 now I think.

The US is trending --->>> Toward the UK where adults live with their parents when they are 30 as the norm. Of course something like 2/5 also have a mental disorder so whatever.

That's the point. They're friendless losers that never leave their parents basement.

It's a paradox. If they exist, you would never know about them. If you became friends with one, the rumor would no longer be true.

Yes you bring up a good point. The intention behind why someone is living with their parents is important. There are many college grads who cannot find work right now and are moving back in with their parents until they can establish a stable job.

I'm glad I have a pretty good job with reasonably good stability at the moment. And I've saved a good chunk of cash so that in the event I lose my job, I'm not in immediate danger and have to ask others for help.

Well, it's true for most of the virgins here. The other virgins still live in their bedroom.

I tell you what. Me the wife and kids sold our place and moved in with my wifes grandmother. My wifes mom did the same. So we had 3 generations living under one roof. (the motivation was to take care of granny and get a LARGE discount on the place when we bought it from the estate). Granny died a few months later now its just us and the mother in law. Shes a chill person and stays out of our business, so its all good. its fantastic having her around since she helps with the kids at the drop of a hat and we split all the bills. She pays for the cable, electric and gas. We pay the house payment and groceries. Most home improvements are split 50/50. pretty sweet situation. Had the basement redone into a family room, bathroom, laundry and 2 bedrooms.

Honestly, I kinda wish my parents had a cool basement for me to live in. I'd love to make what I'm making and have no mortgage. My parents aren't too bad so I could handle living there again if they had a basement with a separate entrance.

They never had a basement while I was growing up though.

I'm sure it's not like the movies though where the basement is always huge and awesome.

I moved out at 18, and now at 28 am building a house where my parents will be living in my basement.

Not only have I broken the stereotype I've turned the tables!

Real gamers live in the parent's garage, not the basement, that way you don't wake them up when you go buy Cheetos on WoW raid night.

I recently had to go to a customer's house to investigate a phone wiring issue, and an elderly couple had a son living with them that was at least 30. I traced a phone wire back to a large "wooden box-like" room in the basement that was sealed off. I was told "Oh...don't go in there. That's Dave's room. He'll be angry." Dave was upstairs laying on the couch at 2pm, shirtless, and had eyes so red and glassy that he must have been on a pot binge for the last two weeks.

WTF? The place was nasty, so I can imaging the mess and possible dead hookers in that room. The parents were worried I wouldn't be able to get their DSL signal cleaned up because he "talks to people online at night."

o_O Parents afraid of their stoner, messy, jobless, and possibly perverted son. Not sure who the loser is there.
