What's with the excessively dorky lingo on this forum?

People keep using really dorky/lame/corny words to describe things on here, like "linky" and "lappy". The most irritating trend is people using "edit: " in their messages, as if what they said was so important that they need to differentiate it from the rest of the post. SOme people even "edit: edit: edit:"...and that's 6 times as annoying as just one time...and 99% of the time it is something utterly pointless...like "edit: I meant hard disk not hard dick."

Stop using these stupid "bastard" words and stop "edit:" ing in your posts.

Hahahaha.

So showing an EDIT in your post is dorky lingo?

You're asking thousands of members of a message forum to change the way they communicate. Wow... what a useless post, do you actually expect anything positive to come of this?

chill your guns, there are reasons behind these type of things... I personally use lappy just because to me it's faster and easier to type, and I'm all about the speed.

Also, I am an avid user of the "edit:" phenominon that you speak of, and there is a great reason. I do this not to say that part of my post is more important, just to let others who may have seen it before the edit know what I did. Also, another good reason to put what you edited is because people can see where it says you edited your post, and if you happen to have made a controversial post they could probably accuse you of editing your post from something that was worse than it was or whatever, or from "copping" or "chickening" out by taking away the controversial part of the post (example, go into an overly heated topic where lots of stuff has went down, you'll notice some people's posts that are empty and say that they have been edited)

There are reasons you need to just chill it :D

I do admit though some of the times it is used it is almost useless, but still...

dorky lingo

First time I've heard that. Who's the pot and who's the kettle?

Edit, turn on your profile so we can make fun of you some more.

I understand the logic behind edit, but people use it way too much and inappropriately.

Nef is a member who went nuts in here quite a while ago. He posted troll like messages in hundreds of thread before the Mods kicked him out. True. I think.

Jbod, just do a search on "NEF," you'll find plenty of topics on it.

SsZERO, making up your own "annoying" words and using them "incessantly" could be fun :)

The most irritating trend is people typing in their user name after each and every post, as if we don't know who typed the message. ;)

I'm just kidding btw :)
