What's with people's sigs?

I remember when it was customary to have a sig no longer than about 3 lines. Now, people here on ATOT have sigs like 20 lines long. it's even worse on some other forums where you are allowed pictures in the sig, so people put like these gigantic pictures of thier car or some anime character in there. What ever happened to the 3 line thing?

Uhhh, isn't there something in preferences to turn off the sigs? I can't remember for certain...

Just click on "profile" and change it.

You should also realize there is a minimum height for reach post because of the header with date and time, the footer with the reply, quote, etc. links, and then the avatar and post count on the left. For most of the posts on AT that aren't very long, it's possible to have a 3 line sig and a 5 line sig and use the same amount of space because the height for that row with the post doesn't change
