Yeah, I have, but are all wheels mags? Nope. Just like not all Integras are Type-R's, not all nitrous is NOS.. hmm, I dunno. It just gets annoying when someone who has dull rims on his civic keeps bragging about his "nice mags".

Why do people call all facial tissues "Kleenex?"

Why do people call all cotton swabs "Q-Tips?"

Why ask why?

For the same reason people call an adjustable wrench a cresent wrench. Or locking pliers, vice grips.

This has been debated to death. NOS is not a majority when it comes to nitrous kits. Q-tips are as well as kleenex. I a link a while back that showed that kleenex and q-tip have majority market shares while NOS does not. Anyways.

Two pics for ya.

I always thought that rims were like hubcaps, so i always called them wheels.

"rims" always sounded ghetto to me....

It's american brand loyalty mentality.
E.g., Band-aid, Kleenex, Q-Tip, etc..
It doesn't neceessarily mean a product is a market leader, it's just the most well known brand. It gets implemented into current rhetoric by virtue of general familiarity.

Why does this matter? Even if it is not the majority, it's the most recognized brand name.

Get over it.

Yeah, why do people call 'wheels' 'rims' ? The 'rim' is technically only the part of the wheel that comes in contact with the tire, the rest is called the 'center', the whole deal is the 'wheel'. I guess that's a 'NOS' thing too ;)

Why would I want to get over it? I happen to use the brand NOS. The only reason it is the most recognized brand is because of a damn movie.

Now on to a semi-related story (not really, but I am gonna tell it anyways) Have you ever gone into the car section in Walmart? I was just walking through the other day, and I saw these "Wheel covers" they are 14 inch plastic wheels made to look like metal that are to be attached to the outside of your wheels, my friend bought 4 for $20 and put them on his pathfinder for a nice rice effect, or course he had to use duct tape, and his stock rims are 16" so you can see the original rims underneath. Just say no to ricelization.

Does that mean if they are made out of titanium they are called "tits"?

Hmm...Then you have to tell your friends that you have a nice set of tits.

That's not right...
