What's with parents making their kids learn/play the violin??

Can it work, YES; but only if the parents have good parenting skills, the kid is enthusiastic or sees/understands the benefits, the teacher is good.

Then again you could master a piano and end up being a jingle writing-womanizer like Charlie Harper on Two and a Half Men.. but that's not exactly true to life. :p

its a good way for children to develop hand-eye coordination and become disciplined. playing the piano/violin looks and sounds more elegant, which is why most eastern families will want their children to learn to play said instruments
