What's with Indian people and backpedaling?

The thread this parodies is bad enough without dumbing down ATOT even further.

Firstly, I'm being a bit tongue in cheek with this post. I'm not Indian but I love a brown person (ok, my wife is white, but she tans in the sun), and the usual words of a bigot apply "I have a lot of Indian friends," but I ask this question not as a bigot but because I'm genuinely curious.

A guy on some forum (not my best friend and not my best man at my wedding) is currently backpedaling and trolling through ATOT, with no real direction or timeline for when the silliness will end. Him and his wife (apparently a white chick) got married recently, he likes rap music, and etc. etc. about his life that he's posted on these forums. Sometimes I like to think he's roaming around dancing some elaborate Bollywood dance and I usually read his threads in the voice of Apu from the Simpsons. This is not an isolated case- it seems like backpedaling through troll threads is sort of a coming of age ritual for a lot of Indian people I know. Why?

I love dancing, sure. But spending weeks or months hopping and dancing and sliding fake horses under trucks doesn't interest me. Hell, I can barely watch their ripoff of Michael Jackson's Thriller video... I think they're running out of ideas and are frustrated (well, duh).

So what's the deep down reason behind this rite of passage? My theory is that the children of immigrants, like them, have magical dancing shoes that are only activated when multiple other ethnic people are around.
