yep, and i guess the motivation for people doing such things is that "you live only once." yeah you live only once and you're gonna have that stuff for the rest of your life when you want to get rid of it.

a supplicant was tattooed in that location to make "ownership" easier to identify when

It's been my experience that toungue rings are like speed bumps... they just slow everything down.
Appearance wise it doesn't bother me one way or the other
