whats with divx, and xvid file extentions..

Why aren't DivX files using .divx? Why aren't XviD files using .xvid? Why aren't 3viX files using .3vix.
Why use .avi for all these types. It just confuses alot of people...

Really though, the whole MPEG4 scene could use a lot more standardization.

AVI is just a wrapper. The video can be encoded with whatever codec you want.

There is an app that will change the extension according to the codec used. I will have to look for it though.
