Okay, I'm sick of it already. Beatles anthologies. Elvis CDs. Random tributes at the Grammys to people I never heard of. The Vines. The Shins. The Eels. A whole phalanx of bands built on the sounds of others. Does today's music suck so bad that we have to go back 40 years to find something good??

And it doesn't stop with the music. You see it in the Fords and Chryslers driving down the street. You see it in the foods people are eating (don't need to ask "where's the beef?" anymore thanks to Atkins!) Some of my friends call themselves 'beatniks'...nevermind the 'hippies' I see in all the coffee shops.

And fashion's going backwards too!! Flared jeans, argyle, colorful striping and piping, all dat sh*t's back. Dave Chappelle can pull it off, but the rest of you??? Give mom and dad their clothes back, please!!! The other day my sister showed me her new dress for some formal dance she was going to, and I was like "damn it looks like something grandma would wear if she were American." She's like "hello, the Fifties are so in!!! OMG WTF TEH FVCKING FIFTIES ARE IN!!??? Sixties, Seventies, and even Eighties I understand. But the FVCKING FIFTIES!??!?! GIRL YOU WERE BORN IN 1985!!!!

ARRGGHH!!! :|

im annoyed with it in clothing, i spose.
(its sort of ironic considering your little hippie dude)

i really wouldnt put the eels in with those other bands...but i havnt heard the eels in years.
as far as music goes, yeah, its all derivative. and people will always buy beatles and elvis so they continue to re-release them.

but...as style progresses it does change a little even if using the slightly older modes. i mean, "real" retro stuff looks and feels a lot different than newer ones and you can certainly see the difference.
