The Honda Civic Si? The RSX? MINI Cooper? None of these "Sports Cars" can go on the track. They are just there to please all the wanna-bes. The current "Sports Cars" are just for ricers and boy racers that are too embarrassed to drive an Accord. Really, are the only real Sports Cars today the Corvette and Mustang?
LMAO "Nissan Torque"Originally posted by: Skoorb
The maxima is good in the rain (although you can't drive fast because the thing just spins forever from all that nissan torque! In regards to driving on curbs: Only in Alabama :QI have to admit one thing. I can run over curbs and drive in the rain. In the mustang it was damn crapshoot in the rain, and if you ran over a curb it was your ass and about 3k in damage.
Well, companies do generally try to create products that meet consumer demand. They are just there to please all the wanna-bes.

The aftermarket has responded well though to the XTerra, I must admit that...but I'm not crazy about the XTerra.

HMMWVs go through a lot more offroading than you think. I wouldn't say that third world countries have extensive highway systems, do you?Originally posted by: ActPrincess

Right...Really, are the only real SUVs today the Hummer and Range Rover?![]()
I've seen all these so-called SUVs get stuck in shallow mud; stuck in snow; and sliding down hills. They are nothing more than glorified minivans. Aside from the soccer mom part, other people like them because they're menacing and aggressive. As someone stated earlier, that can give you a leverage on the road.
It's very funny to me to think that most people think that a hummer is an off road vehicle. A few weeks ago I was at my local off road park and saw a hummer club out on the trails, except, they weren't doing anything cuz they were too wide to go through most parts of the park...plus, they had pruning shears and were trimming bushes and branches..WTF?!?!?! Sorry, i can't respect anyone who drives a Hummer(H2) off roading. But i guess i am partial to Jeeps!![]()
Yeah, but look at the vehicles you listed in your first post. You know what the tagline is in the Murano's advertising? "For Adventures in On-roading". And I'm pretty sure I've never seen a Navigator commercial where they tout its off-road capability or show it in the mud. I think they usually show it driving around the city with a Jazz trio playing in the background.Originally posted by: Dari
all i'm saying is that when the time comes and people with these new SUVs have to go off-road, they'll be severly dissapointed at the fact that they can't. Besides, most of these glorified minivans come with street tires.

how about you drive an RSX or RSX-S before you try and rip on it. they're quick, fun to drive cars, dumbass. OH and FYI plenty of RSX-S's are on the track.

Wha'huh'what?
Anyway:
I own a Trooper; both an SUV and a real 4x4 (low range transfer case, LSD rear diff, etc) and I laugh at all the wanna-be 4x4s out there today. They are glorified minivans, that's all. What is the point of getting an "SUV" if you don't even get a 4WD model? Oh, full-time AWD is not 4WD, people.
I take my truck off road; I get it dirty and I get it stuck (you ain't wheelin' if you ain't stuck!) I have a blast! I get sneered at by Bubba's in F350s with 24" lifts and 40 tires; however, I can fit places they can't and I have followed them thru places they never thought my truck would be able to deal with.
I like my truck a lot. Unfortunately, the aftermarket for Isuzu's in almost non-existent. And with the demise of the Trooper line (2002 was the last year), it's only going to get smaller.
My next vehicle will be a pickup. Most probably an F250 variant of some sort. (Solid front axle makes it a cinch to lift...IFS is a bitch when it comes to lifting!) The aftermarket for 4x4 parts for Amercian vehicles is 1,000,000 times bigger and cheaper than for foreign 4x4s.
The aftermarket has responded well though to the XTerra, I must admit that...but I'm not crazy about the XTerra.
Anyway, that's my two-cents.
