I mean.. People LOVE that they ship their order. Umm... You'd expect another vendor to NOT ship your order?
Everyone I've ever ordered from has shipped my order.
Thank goodness. I would have to order something and NOT have it shipped.
But when it comes to service, I have to say Newegg falls short.
I needed a case for a build. Sort of a special order. A 4U aluminum chassis. I needed 4U because I was using standard ATX components and Aluminum because I needed it as light as possible because it was going into a 2-post rack without rails. Directron had the best price, but they were out of stock. PLink had the next best price, but I was having issues with their Paypal shopping cart. So I had to go with the highest price: Newegg. That brings up another point, which I'll bring up later.
I ordered the case on my company card and told them to ship it to one of our company's satellite offices. ALL of our satellite offices are registered with the CC company as authorized ship to address and all employees that hold a company card have authorization to use their name and sign their name for a purchase (in other words, I can ship to Jon G. I don't HAVE TO ship to All Bizz, Co.)
I asked that the case ship 2 day air and paid the extra $2.99 to expedite the order. At 5 PM my time, I left the office. A little after 6, I get home and check my email only to find that Newegg had tried to email me concerning my order (at 5:05PM. Go figure!)
I called them back and held for 15 minutes. I was told that my bill to and ship to did not match and that they had to confirm the information. I confirmed everything, explained that it was a company card and that we have 6 locations and that everything is Kosher. When I asked if the case would still ship, they told me it was too late in the day. When I asked if I was going to get credited the $2.99 rush fee, they said no because the order was "rushed."
Whatever. I need the case. Get it out whenever, via 2-day, and I'll get it when I get it.
It's now FIVE business days later. No case. I called Newegg and held for 15 minutes.
When someone answered the phone, I asked where my order was. I was told it had not shipped. When I asked why, they told me it was because my bill to and ship to were different and that they were waiting for me to call to remedy the situation. I told him that I called Friday to clear this up. He told me that the credit card company did not have the satellite offices registered as acceptable ship to addresses. I told him that they were mistaken. He said that he's resubmit the order, to which I responded with, "Why? So you can send me an email at 5PM telling me to call you back?!?"
I told him to cancel the order.
I know the whole bill to/ship to mismatch thing isn't an uncommon problem. A reseller has to cover their ass when it comes to CC fraud. We ran into this all of the time at TCWO. We'd call the CC company and when they couldn't confirm the ship to address, we'd call the customer. In fact, this exact same thing happened to me with Directron and ZipZoomFly. But when this happens with Directron or ZipZoomFly, they don't email you once and then sit around and wait for things to fall into place... THEY CALL YOU!!
In fact, just this past week Directron called me at 5PM with this very problem. I thought it was then too late in the night to get the package out. The lady told me that there'd be no problem getting the order processed after having talked to me and that as long as she got the order in by SEVEN THIRTY PM that it would go out. Guess what? IT DID!
You know who else has good service? xPCGear. I ordered from them once simply based on the fact that they had the best price on something. When they were out of stock on the item THEY CALLED ME! I told them to keep it on back order until it came in because nobody else had it in stock and they had the best price. They kept it on back order AND REFUNDED ME THE MONEY!!! And when the item was in stock the next week, the dropped me an email asking me if I still wanted it and when I responded, they charged the CC and shipped it THAT NIGHT!!!
I just don't see why so many people are so caught up in this Newegg love affair. It's weird. It's like a cult. Like one day I'm going to come to ATOT and half of you are going to be gone because Newegg sent out an email asking you to drink the tainted Kool-Aid!
More often than not I have NO PROBLEM with Newegg. I get my stuff and that's that. But they DON'T have the lowest price and they ship just as quick as anyone else! And heaven forbid you have a problem! :frown:
When you know, you Newegg? No... I'll give Newegg credit for having a great website. But I'll go to Newegg, look at all of the product photos, read the reviews... AND THEN PROBABLY BUY IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Sorry.
