I just bought an ECS k7s5a and a duron 1.1. I set it all up and it all went good untill i tried playing CS. I was getting better fps then when I was using my p2 350. Im using a Elsa Erazor 3lt. So whats up with the newer mobo runnig slower in games than an old p2 350? What makes a mobo not run to good like this?

-Thanks for your time

Yeah, I have this exact same problem. I had a 1.4 ghz Tbird and an ECS K7S5A, worked awesome, great speeds in all games etc. I was watercooling the tbird when the unthinkable happened... my water pump died. Overnight. Bye bye cpu. Being a poor college student, I couldn't afford to go out and buy a new tbird so I bought a 950mhz Duron... I lost 50% of my performance (at least) with the new CPU. Sandra benches memory below the level of a KT133 (no joke :( ), quake 3 runs at a whopping 60 FPS max (no it's not vsync, it was doing 150+ with the tbird) and HL mods run like poo also.

If you check into the forums at ocworkbench.com there are always lots of posts about this problem. Apparently the ECS board can't run very well at 100/100 or 100/133 compared to it's brilliant performance at 133. I suppose this was completely overlooked by reviewers, I never saw a review for the Duron on this board and at the time I didn't really care. I am an overclocker but I was going to give up the habit, since buying the ECS let me afford a 1.4 tbird, which was faster than any chip I could have overclocked at the time.

So anyway, the only solution is to get your CPU up to 133/133 or higher, or buy a new motherboard, or buy a new CPU. I personally have finally got the cash to get an XP 1600+ which I will FSB overclock to hopefully a 1800+ or higher ;p.

Good luck.
