I did an upgrade and practically trashed my machine. I had a nice pretty quick little 350k6-2 @ 400 MHz and 64 megs of ram. It worked great with plain old 98 but after win me..I mean after I fixed two corrupted installs and it still insisted on loading the wrong video drivers, It now runs like frozen malasis. I put in an extra 128 megs of ram to speed it up but I only gained a little speed back. its still much slower then it was with 98. Im having problems with the networking and I am starting to really hate those wizards. I did an upgrade install, I havent tried a clean install yet but still, an upgrade is supposed to be just that an UPGRADE! not a downgrade in performance. I cant get the movie maker to work and a lot of other weird things are going on. I have a feeling it's going to be the same old story after I get service pack #3 or #4 my machine will be almost bug free.
Has anyone had startup and shut down problems? What about it hanging during that rediculus long install. In the setup.txt and some other docs it says to restart if it hangs during install so I think it happens often. They put in that restore wizard to go back to a previous configuration which is nice but I had a similar program for about 2 years now. I was going to put it on the rest of my 98 rigs but now I think I'll wait;).
someone said it was going to be released for 200 bucks , I hope not because right now it's not worth the plastic it was burned on...to me anyway.

Two things, 1)Save yourself the hassles and do a clean install! An upgrade must also support your settings, & your software, with ME having limited DOS support anything in your system at the time of the upgrade which is dependent on, or partialy on DOS will severely slow you down.....exactly what you said happened right! 2)Where'd you get a final release ME on CD, and is it a full version?
