whats up with this function on my phone?

I have a samsung phone and when i set the alarm it asks for a phone number, i just put in my own, what else would u put it? could i have it call some random phone at some random time? what good would that do? is this saying im basically calling myself and am wasting minutes by setting the alarm?

it doesnt call anyone...i have a samsung phone which does that. it just displays the phone number on your screen at the alarm time.
