What's up with the short hair?

He's not stupid - these high standards are a construct for him to reject others before they reject him. And truth be told, he's mostly right to do so, as he's not an attractive looking person and probably never will be. You don't do him any favours by pretending otherwise.

Offhand, TridenT, your last best hope to look normal occurs around age 27 or so, where the body shifts gears and finally allows itself to gain a bunch of weight.

My wife has had short hair the entire time I've known her...which is going on 22 years. I've seen pictures of her from high school with long hair. Not a good look for her.

She's definitely not impulsive.
