just browsing on the forums, and windows are popping up now and then showing a "click here to claim your prize" ad and a big OK button.

whats up with them?

---

I have notified Anand about the problem. It may take a few days to get this through to the advertising people. :(

hmm, I was getting that earlier this afternoon too. I thought that it might be another browser window or something, but it was the exact one that you describe.

This is getting intolerable!!! I've looked at 6 different pages here (on AT), and I have 6 popups! Five of them are for Strayer Online University, and one is for Debticated.

This is the latest attempt to get us to suscribe?

edit: 15 minutes later . . . the popups have stopped . . . Thank you :) All are lovey-dovey, warm and fuzzy again . . .

I HATE POP UP ADS.

They have an adverse effect on people's perception of the site they are browsing.

Slow speed... Pop up ads... ...Gonna call it a night on anandtech.com. Hopefully, tomorrow things will have improved.

POP UP ads $uck, I don't mind advertising banners(I do click on them sometimes) but now I have to run a pop up stopper while browsing here too :(

Immediate solution is to assign the parent URL to the address 127.0.0.1 in your host file.
