Whats up with the net coders for anything with the name Unreal?

Seriously, why is it that anything in the Unreal franchise has had major problems with poor net code? First, the original Unreal was basically unplayable, even on LAN"s. Unreal Tournament was alot better, but still had significantly slower performance than the likes of Quake 3. Now, UT2003 has the same freaking problems! I have a rockin Cable connection, with 3Mbs down and 480Kbs up, and am constantly at 150+ ping times...when all other games im around 50. This is definetly an issue, being as its been plastered all over other message boards. Hopefully it will be fixed in one of the many patches to come...

Oh almost forgot. For the love of GOD, tear down the demo servers and replace them with retail versions already! You people are slow!
