Making Scorpions? I have a dead one a few feet from where I'm sitting. You can have it, if you like.

Jalapenos? I don't find them very hot. I'm growing in my container garden harbaneros, thai chili and black czech hot peppers. And they're hot.

Jalapenos is OK for heat. But I also prefer something hotter. I have harbaneros and lots of thai chili growing in the garden.

Are they Anaheim pepper? AFAIK, if it's giant, it isn't a jalapeno? Though it seems that various areas name the same pepper different things. I've seen that some call jalapenos serrano peppers, but I've had serrano peppers that are not like the jalapeno's that I know. Jalapenos tend to be fatter and shorter.

yeah, typically they aren't hot, but I notice that it probably depends on freshness as sometimes they manage to surprise me with their random potency.

If you are looking for heat you generally don't want a large pepper.

the only chiles that have been consistently hot for me are serranos and thai bird chiles

i've had burning hot banana peppers and tasteless habaneros

jalapenos seem to be all over the place

Thought it was commonly known that small peppers are the ones to look out for.

Jallies are squat and round, usually a deep darker green to red. They're quite distinctive as they're one of the few peppers that aren't ribbed. You might be confusing them with cubanella or peperoncini.

i did a comparison with the store bought and the ones I have in my garden and HOLY CRAP my home grown jalapenos are HOT! and smaller. the Kroger bought ones are 4times as big and taste like a bell.

I can take heat and next weekend we are going to the farmers market to get a bushel of dynamite hot Anaheims roasted. god i love the smell of roasting peppers, its like the smell of late summer early fall.

i agree. ive had some banana peppers that lit me up and serranos are always hot.

i think the ones the store sell are GMO'ed to be bigger and no heat.

As mentioned Thai chillies are better.
I recently bought 2 jars of them that are persevered, one with red chilies the other that are green.
I also have a planet, and some chillies that were dried and crushed from last year.

Nah, I see HUGE jalapeno peppers in the grocery store all the time. Mexican grown...almost no heat.
I usually have the mexican restaurant where we eat toss a couple of jalapenos in the deep fryer for me...also mexican grown and huge..."Be careful, these are spicy!" they tell me...then they're disappointed when they watch me eat them and don't break out in firemouth. I grew MUCH hotter jalapenos in my garden in California.
