What's up with the availability of Western Digital Red drives?

The high capacity models seem to have vanished from Newegg and Amazon except from 3rd party sellers.

Those being the highest common capacity available, was there a production halt or some other manufacturing pause (like the Thailand floods a few years ago) that is causing this low/no inventory situation at retailers? Will they be restocked soon? Are retailers no longer carrying them? What gives?

I'm not seeing a shortage. Click the "where to buy" link:

https://www.amazon.com/Red-6TB-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B00LO3KR96/ "See all buying options" aka not available from Amazon, only 3rd party sellers
https://www.amazon.com/Red-8TB-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B01BYLY4DM/ Was completely unavailable now says it's coming from someone other than Amazon if you order it and and it's not available for Prime as a result. aka very similar to being 3rd party seller only.
So back to the original question: What gives? Why is Amazon having so much trouble stocking the high capacity Reds?

Thanks for the Newegg link, looks like they've got them back in stock.

OOS at NewEgg now, too. Something's strange with the supply of these drives at top e-tailers.

They are all in stock at the link I posted above when you first stated this.

Not sure where you are seeing otherwise.
